Governance

Fostering High Ethical Standards

The Electric Power Research Institute was organized in 1973 to conduct and sponsor research and development with respect to the production, transmission, distribution and utilization of electric power. EPRI also provide a medium through which power producers, transmission and distribution operators and others interested in electricity can sponsor electricity research and development for the public benefit.

EPRI's work is conducted by its employees, managers and officers under the direction of its Chief Executive Officer, with oversight from its Board of Directors. In addition, EPRI and its Board receive comments and advice from a 30-member Advisory Council broadly representative of the public interest in the Institute's programs. Council members represent state utility regulatory commissions (10 members) and other industry stakeholders such as environmental organizations, experts on energy and technology policy, and the financial and academic communities.

EPRI, its employees, officers and Board, are committed to sound principles of corporate governance that will support the Institute's public benefit mission.

The foundation of EPRI's governance processes are set out in the documents found in the box at the left. If you have any other questions, please contact us at governance@epri.com.
