Energy Technology Assessment Center

The Energy Technology Assessment Center (ETAC) conducts strategic assessments of electricity sector technology needs. ETAC research focuses on interdisciplinary analysis of technology development, energy policy, and economic factors. Current research includes:

  • Effects of potential CO2 emissions reductions policies on future technology priorities
  • Generation technology costs and trends
  • Economic consequences of different technology strategies

ETAC's goal is to assure that ongoing debates among electricity sector stakeholders are based on sound technical and scientific information, targeting research at senior decision-makers. It communicates regularly with senior management of EPRI member organizations, policy makers at the federal and state level, national
and regional news media, universities, and major non-governmental organizations. Most ETAC reports are publicly available.

ETAC is supported by EPRI's Office of Technology Innovation, which identifies EPRI strategic research priorities through a portfolio of long-range R&D activities.
