Electricity and the Environment
|
|
|
The Electric Power Research Institute and its international network of universities, research institutes and experts address environmental and public health issues associated with the production, distribution and use of electricity.
Scientific rigor and technical credibility form the cornerstone of these collaborations and their work in critical areas such as:
|
 |
-
Air Quality – including fine particulates and public health, mercury and the environment
-
Global Climate Change – to inform public policy and investigate strategies for reducing CO2 emissions
-
Watersheds and Ecosystems – including water sustainability and fisheries protection
- Land and Groundwater – from site remediation to combustion products use
- Transmission and Distribution – issues ranging from right-of-way siting and management to electric and magnetic fields
-
Occupational Health and Safety – including industrial exposure assessment and workplace ergonomics
In these and other areas, EPRI and its members work to identify and develop economically effective ways for the electric power industry to protect the environment and sustain public health. |
