Transmission Lines and Substations

Utilities are faced with a number of issues in managing their assets. They seek to enhance safety, reliability and performance as well as to extend equipment life to defer capital expenditures and control costs. EPRI research includes transmission line projects focused on specific components such as compression connectors and crossarms as well as lightning, grounding and live working. The substations program offers tools and technologies which include transformer monitoring. It also comprises of resources to improve transformer and circuit breaker life management such as failure databases and aging models.
